Basic Needs Resource Closets
The impact of COVID-19 has had disproportionate effects on low-income children and families in our community. Food and housing insecurity, lack of access to medical care, financial gaps, and limited access to technology needed for online learning are just some of the many obstacles students continue to face. You can help. By donating to Communities In Schools of Whatcom-Skagit today, you will help us respond to the evolving needs of our students and communities by stocking Basic Needs Resource Closets at each of our 10 sites in Ferndale, Bellingham and Mount Vernon. Our goal is to provide direct access to needed resources so that students can meet their needs at school, and have the ability to focus on their education.

Commitment of Support
During Times of Crisis + Always

We are here to help! During school closures, distance learning, and while our community navigates the ongoing impact of the COVID19 pandemic, we will be working hard to support students and families in these ways:
- Supportive Communication – Checking in virtually with students and families
- Community Connections – Helping families find and navigate resources
- Emergency Support – Fundraising to support the emerging needs of families
