Efrain is passionate about making and eating food, and following the beat of one’s own drum.  Efrain attended school in Bellingham before shifting interest to the restaurant industry, working in different spots for a total of 4 years at which point he once again shifted interest to education. Through his role as a Garden/Food educator for Common Threads he was able to use his experiences to guide as well as learn alongside students.

Efrain was raised in a small town where he  saw and experienced faults in the public systems meant to uplift minority groups. He came to the realization that he would like to be the person he needed when he was growing up. He is excited for the opportunity to work with youth as a supportive and listening guide and teaching students about problem solving, goal setting and healthy strategies for overcoming obstacles. In his free time , Efrain likes to rock climb, practice Thai Kickboxing and play video games as well as  making and eating new foods and going on adventures.
