Meet Flor Zamorano Beltran. She is 22 years old and has just graduated from Western Washington University, with a Bachelors of Arts in an Interdisciplinary Study on Educational Theory and Practice, as well as a minor in Education and Social Justice. Flor is very passionate about education and social justice, and has been involved in the Skagit Valley community, particularly in the Mount Vernon School District, where she has empowered students of color and low income students. Flor says “As a student who graduated from MVHS, it has always been my goal to come back to my community to work with youth. That is why it is a privilege for me to work as a Site Coordinator at LaVenture Middle School, which is the same school I went to.”
Flor was born in Mexico and migrated to the US when she was 6 years old. She grew up with a single mother who is a very hard worker and inspiration to Flor. “She taught me the importance of education,” Flor says about her mother.
In her free time Flor likes to read, spend time with friends and family, and spend time outdoors. She also enjoys working out and trying new food.
