Prior to working with Communities in Schools, Maura spent the 2021-2022 school year at Horizon as the COVID Paraeducator and Behavior Intervention assistant. Through this position she was able to foster meaningful connections with both students, staff, and families, and when a position with CIS opened up at the end of the school year, the transition into that role was the obvious natural progression of her career at HMS and beyond.

Maura is currently attending Western Washington University and is pursuing a BA in Multidisciplinary Studies with a focus on Social Justice and Equity, along with a double-minor in Psychology and Sociology. She is a steadfast advocate for the voice of underserved, marginalized, and minority populations. She has specific background in youth mental health services, as well as youth drug and alcohol addiction prevention and recovery programs.

In her free time, Maura enjoys traveling (her favorite trip so far has been the coast of Croatia and the island of Mykonos), reading, hiking, swimming, spending time with loved ones and her cat, Bellatrix.
