At Mount Baker Middle School in the Mount Vernon School District, Lisa Bradley is shaping a school culture where students feel empowered, supported, and seen. As a Site Coordinator with Communities In Schools, Lisa brings a thoughtful, steady presence to the building—someone who listens closely, encourages creativity, and helps students take ownership of their own growth.
One recent moment that stands out is the story of a sixth-grade student who regularly attends Lisa’s Creative Club. The student had a passion for crochet and casually mentioned she wished more students had the chance to learn. Rather than taking on the task herself, Lisa took a different approach—she guided the student through the process of starting her own after-school club.
Lisa helped her map out the steps, from pitching the idea to the principal to finding a staff advisor, creating flyers, and making school announcements. The student even reached out to a local crafter for yarn donations. What began as a passing thought turned into a student-led crochet club that is now slowly growing, offering students not just a new skill, but a space for calm, connection, and creativity.
For Lisa, this experience represents something larger—her belief in student voice and leadership. While it would have been easier to run the club herself, she knew that supporting a student in building something from the ground up would leave a more lasting impact.
This kind of intentional, behind-the-scenes support is what defines Lisa’s approach. She doesn’t need recognition to do the work; her focus is always on helping students build confidence, community, and a sense of belonging. We’re proud to recognize Lisa Bradley as March’s Site Coordinator of the Month. Her steady encouragement and thoughtful leadership are making a meaningful difference at Mount Baker Middle School.
