Eric Garcia is the new Site Coordinator at Washington Elementary School in the Mount Vernon School District. He comes to us from the Boys & Girls Club of Skagit County where he gained an understanding of working with youth and implemented programs and activities that focused and promoted academic achievement, good character, and healthy lifestyles.

He graduated from Western Washington University with a BA in Spanish and minor in Latin American Studies, making him passionate about the different hispanic cultures and history and educating people about them. Growing up in Skagit County, he noticed the disadvantages kids faced and the hardships they experienced, as they didn’t have the resources to live a safe, healthy, and happy life, both in school and outside of it. He wants to make kids feel empowered, help youth understand that they belong, and create a safe space and meaningful relationships that they will remember for the rest of their lives.

Eric loves his family! He loves spending time with his nephews Maximiliano, Noah, and Sammuel. He loves traveling to Mexico to spend time in the warm beaches and colonial cities learning about their history. In his free time he enjoys working out in the gym, eating Chicken Terriyaki (best dish ever), and Soccer!
