John Camacho is our dedicated Site Coordinator at Horizon Middle School in the Ferndale School District. John’s journey is a reflection of his deep commitment to supporting youth and ensuring they have the resources and guidance needed to thrive both academically and personally.
John holds a BA in Psychology and is currently pursuing his Master’s in Education, with a focus on teaching Middle School Math. Originally from Saipan in the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI), John brings a rich background of experience to his role. Before joining Communities In Schools, he worked for nearly four years with Compass Health WISE as a Care Coordinator. In that role, John organized summer camp events, connected families with vital resources, led team meetings, and collaborated with a variety of community partners, all with the goal of supporting individuals and fostering community well-being.
What truly drives John is his passion for helping students succeed in school. His desire to make a greater impact on students’ lives inspired him to pursue a career in education, specifically Middle School Math, where he hopes to make a difference in the classroom. His belief in the power of mentorship is central to his work, as he understands that many students face challenges alone and need the support of mentors to help them overcome obstacles and reach their full potential.
As the Site Coordinator at Horizon Middle School, John is focused on creating a positive and supportive environment for students, ensuring they are engaged with their academics and empowered to succeed. His experience and passion make him an invaluable asset to our team and to the students and families he serves.
Outside of work, John enjoys a variety of hobbies, including watching movies, TV shows, anime, and football. He also loves exploring new foods, traveling, and listening to true crime stories. John is the fourth of six siblings, and his close family ties play a significant role in shaping his values and approach to community work.
