Justin Sanchez is the new site coordinator at Squalicum High School in the Bellingham Public School District.

He earned his Associate in Arts at Skagit Valley College and worked at the Mount Vernon City Library soon after. He earned his bachelors in creative writing and teaching certificate at Western Washington University. At WWU, he worked as a lead mentor for the Compass 2 Campus program supporting 5th graders at Roosevelt Elementary and 9th-12th graders at Burlington-Edison High School. He completed his student teaching at Kulshan Middle School and worked as a paraeducator at Lucille Umbarger Elementary where he attended.

What brought him to Communities in Schools is his passion for education and bolstering the strengths of our youth. It’s important for his growth to take on different roles within education because so many people do different things to support our kids. He aims to give back to his communities, as he’s gone on to mentor and work for the schools he’s stepped foot in. He spent time at Squalicum High School for his teaching program and looks forward to getting to know the students even more.

Justin lives in Bellingham but doesn’t stray too far from the Skagit Valley area where he grew up. He enjoys playing guitar, reading fantasy books, journaling, hiking, and writing grammatically correct messages to friends and family.
