At Harriet Rowley Elementary School, there’s one face that students, staff, and families can always count on to bring joy, engagement, and a sense of belonging—Nicole Wolbert, the school’s CISWS (Communities In Schools of Whatcom-Skagit) Site Coordinator. Her unwavering dedication has earned her the title of Site Coordinator of the Month for January, and it’s easy to see why.

Since stepping into her role, Nicole has transformed the school atmosphere, making it a place where students feel excited to learn and connect. Whether it’s organizing Mindfulness Mondays, hosting dazzling events, or literally bringing bubbles to the school’s front entrance every morning, she has left an unforgettable mark on the Harriet Rowley community.

Lights, Camera, Community! Three Successful Movie Nights

One of Nicole’s standout initiatives has been hosting three successful Family Movie Nights so far. These events have become a cherished tradition at Harriet Rowley, providing a space for families to come together, unwind, and enjoy a fun evening while supporting school programs.

Her first Movie Night in October was a smashing success, bringing in 43 families and raising $1,010.91 to support school field trips. Since then, the goal has expanded—funds are now being directed toward purchasing a school letter board, a much-needed communication tool for the school community.

Through Nicole’s leadership, these movie nights have become more than just a chance to watch a film—they are a way to build a stronger, more engaged school community.

An Art Auction That Made an Impact

Nicole’s commitment to fostering creativity was on full display at the student-led Art Gallery Auction in December, which was a huge success. This event gave young artists at Harriet Rowley a platform to showcase their talents while also raising funds for school improvements. The auction brought families and community members together to celebrate student creativity, all while contributing to the greater school mission.

A Daily Dose of Joy—And Bubbles!

If you’ve ever arrived at Harriet Rowley Elementary on a school morning, chances are you’ve been greeted by something special—Nicole standing outside, blowing bubbles, and spreading joy. It may seem like a small gesture, but this fun and whimsical welcome has a big impact.

For students, it’s an exciting way to start their day on a positive note. For families and staff, it’s a reminder of the warmth and community spirit that Nicole fosters at the school. As one staff member put it, “It’s like she’s bringing the sunshine back!”

More Than Just a Coordinator—A Community Builder

Nicole’s work goes beyond just planning events—she creates lasting connections. Whether it’s through her Mindfulness Monday sessions that help students build emotional resilience, her dedication to ensuring students have basic needs met, or her ability to make Harriet Rowley feel like home, she is truly an integral part of the school.

From hosting events that bring families together to simply showing up every day with a smile and a heart full of care, Nicole embodies what Communities In Schools is all about—helping students succeed by surrounding them with a strong support system.

Congratulations, Nicole, on being named Site Coordinator of the Month! Harriet Rowley is brighter, more connected, and full of fun because of you.
