Estrella came to Washington State from Oceanside, California when she was eight years old, and she grew up in Burlington. She is first generation in her family, and the oldest sibling of three. Her parents migrated from Mexico in 1997 to California and growing up it was always difficult trying to understand why someone would leave their home; as she got older she noticed why her parents did it and how many children were also living in her situation.
As she was growing up and attending different classes with different teachers and staff members, she grew a passion for wanting to be there for those children and families that need an adult in the school setting that understands what they are going through. Estrella then started volunteering, helping within her school as a student and eventually started working in the community helping families and children.
