Hannah Allen-Young (she/her/hers) is the Site Coordinator at Vista Middle School in Ferndale. She is passionate about facilitating opportunities for self actualization, alternative and adaptive modes of learning, and making education fun. After graduating from The Evergreen State College in Olympia WA with a B.A. in Creative Writing and Interdisciplinary Humanities, Hannah did two Americorp service terms as a Food/Garden Educator with Common Threads Farm in Bellingham. This experience instilled in her a love for all things dirt, outdoor education, and sharing food. It also brought into focus the many inequities individuals and families face in food access and food education. Hannah is passionate about connecting families to resources and advocating for the needs of her students, and is excited for the opportunity to fulfil this role as a Site Coordinator. She is also especially interested in providing support related to student mental health, self expression through art, tactile learning, neurodivergent advocacy, community building, equity, and LGBTQIA+ students.
In her free time, Hannah can be found tromping around the woods, skipping rocks, climbing, cooking yummy food, or hanging out with worms (and other animal and human friends). She also enjoys music, trivia, and spending way too much time in thrift shops.
One of the biggest highlights from March was getting to accompany our 8th graders on the High School tour. This is my favorite field trip every year. It is always so heartwarming to see the 8th graders get excited for High School. This is especially impactful for my students that have faced many barriers throughout their middle school experience. While they are often nervous or scared to make the transition, this field trip allows for productive conversations regarding next steps, transitions, and their hopes for the future.” Hannah, March 2026 Monthly Reflection
